You should know that your summer skincare routine is for hot and dry weather and with the humidity and stickyiness of monsoon we need a different approach.

What Happens To Your Skin During Monsoon Season?

For Combination Skin:

If you have combination skin, you can experience greasiness, an uneven skin tone, and even infections (occasionally).

For Oily Skin:

If you have oily skin, your skin generates more sebum. You can experience excessive greasiness, open pores, and acne.

Because of the increased humidity in the air during the monsoon, your skin can become more oily than usual when it comes into touch with it.

For Dry Skin:

If you have dry skin, you might experience flakiness, tightness, rigidity, and extra-level dryness if you have dry skin, along with invisible pores.

Your skin seems dull due to the chilly, dry monsoon air’s increased moisture.

For Sensitive Skin:

If you have sensitive skin, the rising humidity level alone may cause itching, skin rashes, eczema, and many other skin problems.

While the rainy season may wash away the dirt and squalor of the natural world, it also serves as a breeding ground for fungal infections. So what can you do during the monsoon season so you and your skin can enjoy the weather together?

8 Changes We Need To Consider:

1]. Use Soap-Free Cleansers

As a result of the humidity and monsoon, the skin loses its youthful glow and appears dull and sticky.

So, to remove dirt and grime and stop moisture loss from the skin, you need a cleanser without soap. Excess oil will also be eliminated.

Check the contents of your regular face wash. Keep it aside during monsoon in case it contains soap, and choose a soap-free option.

You can opt for DIY face wash, especially during monsoon. Remember to moisturize regularly.

2]. Exfoliate

Exfoliate, don’t scrub.

Exfoliation is a simple process of removing excess oil and dead skin cells. You can use raw milk, curd, buttermilk, honey, or gram four (besan) as an exfoliator.

It makes the skin glow and aids in the removal of dead skin cells. Exfoliating your skin two to three times a week also improves blood flow, which aids in the removal of toxins.

Once you remove those dead skin cells, your skin will react better to your skincare products.

3]. Bear Minimum Makeup

Heavy makeup looks won’t last and run the risk of clogging your skin’s pores. I advise you to continue wearing minimal or no makeup during the monsoon if you did so during the summer.

Your skin might bear consequences during monsoon and in the following season (like acne breakouts). Your skin will be able to breathe as a result.

Avoid lipsticks and switch to tinted lip balms, which will moisturize your lips and give them a subtle colour. Try to water-based sunscreen for the monsoon season.

4]. Toner

Most people skip toner in their daily skincare routine. Toner during monsoon (especially for oily skin) is a must.

Apply toner before moisturizer. If you have open pores and face the problem of excess oil on the skin, never skip toner.

Toner will keep your skin toned and hydrated throughout the season. Look for a non-alcohol toner that suits your skin.

5]. Sunscreen

Despite the cloud cover and the grey skies, the sun can still harm your skin. Therefore, remember to apply sunscreen before going outside.

When it comes to monsoon skincare for oily skin, including non-oily sunscreen. It is better to opt for a water-based sunscreen during monsoon.

You can protect your skin by using sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30.

6]. Clay Mask

When I say clay mask, I mean the face mask that contains multani mitti.

Due to their ability to cleanse the face and regulate excess oil, clay masks are a monsoon skincare mainstay.

Use a clay mask once or twice every week to tighten your pores, pull out impurities, and absorb extra sebum.

Moisturize your skin after doing the mask to maintain the normality of your skin.

7]. Include Vitamin C

When contemplating a successful monsoon skincare regimen, vitamin C is a necessity. The skin is kept healthy by vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant.

Your skin’s radiance can be preserved by using vitamin C topically through a vitamin C serum or toner.

However, eating it can help maintain the natural health and radiance of the skin while boosting immunity, fending off infections, and doing so.

8]. Moisturization

Contrary to what people think, you still need a moisturizer in the rainy season. Every skin type, all seasons, and every time of the year requires some form of moisturizer.

It keeps your skin moisturized, which prevents your skin from having to work extra hard to create extra oil.

In other words, moisturized skin looks younger and experiences fewer skin issues.

What do I do to take care of my skin in monsoon?

STEP 1: Cleansing.

STEP 2: Toning

After cleansing, I apply toner or gulab jal (rose water) before applying moisturizer. I let the skin absorb the toner.

STEP 3: Moisturizing Then, I apply moisturizer and give a gap of 15 min (by the clock) before putting the sunscreen. If you do this you will notice a positive difference by doing your skincare this way.

STEP 4: Sunscreen Besides these eight tips, take care of your skin externally as well. Stay hydrated and eat fresh fruits and vegetables.

Avoid eating processed and fried food. Your skin will remain healthy during the monsoon and in the next season.
