How To Remove Tan At Home?

You are currently viewing How To Remove Tan At Home?

Sun tanning is common and temporary. The body parts that get direct sun exposure get tanned. But is tanning harmful?

Tanning might look unpleasing to the eyes, but it is natural and temporary. Tanning is good for your skin!

When your skin gets exposed to sunlight, UV rays try to penetrate it. As a defense mechanism, the skin cells start producing melanin which protects the skin from harmful UV rays, which prevents the chances of getting skin cancer.

So to all the worried mothers, the tanning your children get while playing in the sun is harmless! But we all agree that we cannot keep a tan forever, right?

Especially if you have a big event coming up and you’ve got a bad tan! No need to worry. I am sharing a simple DIY remedy to de-tan your skin at home.

Things To Keep In Mind:

Before we get into the topical applications and de-tan routine, I would like to share some other measures you should take to reduce the magnitude of tanning.

Topical applications will remove the tan, but it might come back. There are a few things you need to keep in mind:

1]. Stay Hydrated: Staying hydrated does not just mean drinking plenty of water. You should eat seasonal fruits and salads.

2]. Caffeine: Limited caffeine intake dehydrates the body. Hydrated skin will stay healthy, and any DIY remedy will stick for a long time.

3]. Vitamin C: Maintain the right amount of vitamin C in your body. Applying vitamin C serums and moisturizers is not enough to maintain the radiance.

Try to eat foods rich in vitamin C, such as citrus fruits, strawberries, broccoli, tomatoes, bell peppers, and many more!

4]. Sunscreen: Do not forget the sunscreen! Sunscreen protects the skin from UV rays which are harmful to the skin.

Any DIY remedy will not work for your skin if you do not take precautions. Try using sunscreen with SPF 30+ for better protection from the sun!

So I hope you have noted these precautions and will take care of these things before starting the topical remedy.

Procedure:

STEP 1: Exfoliate

For step number one, you need curd (better if it is homemade and cold) and kasturi turmeric powder.

Please note that you cannot use kitchen turmeric powder for this remedy. The reason is that kitchen turmeric can lead to the darkening of the skin, which will ruin the entire purpose of de-tanning.

Take a bowl and add one tablespoon of curd to it. Now, add a one-third spoonful of kasturi turmeric powder to the curd. Mix the ingredients well.

If kasturi turmeric powder is not readily available, use plain curd. Curd alone is an amazing exfoliant. It contains lactic acid, which is a soft exfoliator.

If your tan is severe, you will require stronger exfoliation. So, add a little bit of orange juice to the mix. It will help in better and stronger exfoliation.

Massage it well on your face and the tanned areas of your body. You can do this step before bathing and witness radiant and smooth skin!

Curd will condition your body and give you a facial-like glow. After cleaning the tanned surfaces of your body, wash them away!

STEP 2: Mask

For the second step, we will prepare a mask using orange peel powder. You can use homemade orange peel powder, get it from a store or order online.

Next, we need sandalwood powder. If it is unavailable in your area, use coffee powder instead.

Let me make it clear that coffee powder is not a substitute for sandalwood powder, but it will provide similar cleansing. Sandalwood powder is irreplaceable. It can cure sunburn, so tanning is a piece of cake!

In a bowl, take one tablespoon of orange peel powder and add a little less than a full tablespoon of sandalwood powder.

Next, add one tablespoon of curd (add more for desired consistency). You can increase the quantity of ingredients according to your requirements.

Mix all the ingredients well, and your face mask is ready for application!

Apply the mask evenly on all tanned surfaces of your body and let it dry for 15-20 minutes. Sandalwood’s fragrance will give you a calming and peaceful effect.

Wash off the mask and apply sunscreen (yes, you have to apply sunscreen even if you are not going out!).

Conclusion:

You can do this remedy daily for the best results! Do not expect your tan is going to vanish after one application.

Yes, you will notice some positive changes in your skin, but you need to be consistent for the proper de-tanning process.

In the case of lighter tan, your skin will respond after the first application! You can use this remedy on children as well (firstly, make sure that your child is not allergic to any of the ingredients used in this remedy).

These simple and hassle-free steps will surprise you with the most wonderful results! All you need to do is – be patient, trust the process, and be consistent.
