Here are some benefits that will help you understand the capabilities of this oil.
1]. Hydrates and moisturizes the hair:
The moisture castor oil offers to your hair and scalp is similar to other natural oils. It contains ricinoleic acid, amino acid, and natural hair emollient.
Additionally, it has a lot of Omega 6 and Omega 9 fatty acids, which give the hair hydration.
Castor oil aids in sealing moisture and natural oils into the hair strands by attracting them.
2]. Contains antifungal and antibacterial properties:
Infections of the scalp are frequent during the winter and wet months.
Poor scalp cleanliness might raise your chance of developing a scalp infection, leading to dandruff, itching, breakouts, etc.
By using castor oil on the scalp, you can stop the development of many bacterial and fungal illnesses that could harm your scalp’s health.
Castor oil has anti-inflammatory effects. It might work well to treat eczema and seborrheic dermatitis-related dandruff.
3]. Enriched with vitamin E:
Vitamin E and fatty acids in castor oil are magic for healthy hair.
Castor oil also helps with protein synthesis, ensuring your hair has a normal growing and resting cycle.
It improves hair lustre and lessens uncontrollable hair loss.
4]. Accelerate hair growth:
Hair follicles are present on the scalp. Your hair follicle health directly depends on how well you care for it and how healthy it is.
Dry scalp and dead hair follicles occur because of poor hygiene and hydration.
Oiling your scalp every day is necessary if you have a dry scalp, while once or twice a week is sufficient for individuals with oily scalps.
Castor oil massages on the scalp promote hair growth and blood flow. For improved results, apply warm oil.
5]. Shiny, healthy hair:
Your hair will remain strong, glossy, and soft with the help of castor oil, a natural conditioner.
Oleic and linoleic acids in this oil can help your hair to normalcy. When massaged, this oil aids in boosting blood flow, which enhances hair growth.
Because of its moisturizing qualities, castor oil is excellent for dry, brittle hair.
Castor oil is beneficial for your hair in so many ways. However, people struggle with how to use castor oil for hair. Castor oil is thick and sticky and will be challenging to remove from your hair.
So, let’s learn how to use castor oil.
How Can You Use Castor Oil?
If you’re facing extreme hair fall, you should heat it. Heating castor oil will help the oil to loosen its thickness a little, making it easy to use and rinse.
There are two ways of heating the oil:
1]. Double-boiler method:
A smaller pot or bowl sits on top of a larger utensil for heating water in a double-boiler process. A double boiler enables the use of indirect, mild heat. Put castor oil in a smaller vessel (like a bowl) and heat the oil (not too much).
2]. Microwave: Another way of heating the oil is by microwaving it for 10 seconds.
How to apply it?
Deposit the oil on the roots of your hair. DO NOT massage the oil on your scalp. Leave it on for 30-45 mins, and rinse your hair using regular shampoo.
You should not leave castor oil overnight because its thickness can stiffen your hair.
Some common ways to use Castor oil are:
1]. Use A Carrier Oil
Your hair might feel uncomfortable using castor oil as it is. Using a carrier oil will help your hair to accept castor oil. Carrier oils dilute the thickness of castor oil.
You can use either a seed-based or fruit-based oil.
Seed-Based Oils: Sunflower oil, Flaxseeds oil, Sesame oil
Fruit-Based Oils: Olive oil, Coconut oil, Avocado oil
Mix castor oil with carrier oil and apply it to your hair. You can leave it overnight as well if you are comfortable. Otherwise, leave it for 3-4 hours.
If you are trying it for the first time, start slow. Start with 2 hours and then keep increasing the time eventually.
2]. Mix With Onion Juice
This remedy is for hair fall restriction and hair regrowth.
-
Take equal proportions of onion juice and castor oil (if you are taking two tablespoons of castor oil, take two tablespoons of onion juice).
-
Mix these liquids well. These are immiscible liquids, so they will not mix properly. Mix them till you get a uniform consistency.
-
Deposit the oil on your scalp, and do not massage. Leave it for 30-45 minutes and rinse with your regular shampoo.
Remember: You will notice an increase in hair fall after the first and second applications. Do not lose hope and discontinue the remedy. You will see the results after the third or fourth application.
3]. Mix With Carrier Oil And Rosemary Essential Oil
This remedy is for hair growth and regrowth.
-
Take a small bottle and add castor oil to it.
-
Now, for carrier oil, use olive oil. Olive oil penetrates the best.
-
Take equal proportions of castor and olive oil.
-
Add a few drops of rosemary essential oil. These three ingredients are potent and work wonders for hair.
Deposit the oil on your scalp, and you can gently massage it.
You will be happy with the results, but you have to be patient and have faith in the process. Relax and do not stress (as stress leads to hair fall).
