How To Prepare Hair Serum At Home?

Hair thinning, bald patches, receding hairline, stagnant hair growth, and many other hair problems stress us out (ironically, stress is one of the factors leading to hair fall).

This stress makes us try all sorts of products, treatments, and whatnot. Sometimes they work, but many a time they don't.

It builds up more stress, and the cycle goes on. So, is there a stop to this tedious cycle? Well, yes, there is.

In this blog post, we'll learn about a simple hair serum that we can prepare at home which will fix thinning hair, bold patches and even receding hairline.

So, let's learn and then do what all that needs to be done.

Table Of Contents:

What Hair Serum Does For Your Hair?

A hair serum is a specialized hair care product designed to provide various benefits to your hair.

  • It typically contains a blend of ingredients like silicone, oils, vitamins, and other nutrients that work together to nourish, protect, and enhance the appearance of your hair.

  • Hair serum helps to smooth frizz, add shine, reduce split ends, and protect hair from heat styling damage.

  • Additionally, it can help to detangle hair, making it easier to manage and style.

  • Overall, using a hair serum can leave your hair looking healthier, shinier, and more manageable.

Ingredients:

It is crucial to know the powers of the ingredients! All the components of this serum are a powerhouse of nutrients.

1]. Kalonji Powder (black cumin/nigella sativa):

  • You can use kalonji seeds instead of the powder.

  • Kalonji contains vitamins, minerals, and essential fatty acids that can nourish hair follicles and promote hair growth. It helps in reducing hair thinning and hair loss.

  • Kalonji strengthens hair shafts, making them less prone to breakage. It can result in healthier-looking hair.

  • The oil extracted from Kalonji seeds is rich in fatty acids, which can help moisturize and condition the hair, reducing dryness and frizz.

2]. Aloe Vera Gel:

  • Aloe vera has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties that can help soothe an irritated or itchy scalp.

  • It can provide relief from conditions like dandruff and scalp psoriasis.

  • It contains enzymes that promote hair growth by removing dead skin cells from the scalp, allowing for better hair follicle health.

  • Aloe vera can help reduce hair loss by strengthening the hair shaft and preventing breakage.

  • It also improves blood circulation to the scalp, stimulating hair growth.

  • The vitamins and minerals in aloe vera, such as vitamins A, C, and E, as well as folic acid, can strengthen your hair and reduce breakage.

  • Aloe vera may help reduce hair thinning and promote thicker hair when used consistently.

3]. Rosewater:

  • Rosewater can help hydrate and moisturize the hair and scalp. It's useful for people with dry or brittle hair.

  • While not a direct promoter of hair growth, the improved scalp health and hydration provided by rosewater can create a better environment for hair growth.

  • It can be beneficial for those with oily or sensitive scalps.

  • Rosewater has a pleasant and natural floral scent that can leave your hair smelling fresh.

4]. Rosemary Essential Oil:

  • Rosemary essential oil stimulates hair follicles, which can lead to increased hair growth. It may help with hair thinning and balding by promoting hair growth.

  • Regular use of rosemary oil can strengthen hair and make it thicker. It is useful for people with fine or thin hair.

  • Rosemary oil reduces hair loss and prevents premature baldness by improving circulation to the scalp and providing essential nutrients to the hair follicles.

  • The antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties of rosemary oil can help combat dandruff and dry, flaky scalp conditions. It can soothe itching and reduce scalp irritation.

  • Rosemary oil can balance the pH of the scalp, which is essential for maintaining a healthy scalp environment. A balanced scalp is less prone to issues like excessive oiliness or dryness.

  • Substitute: You can substitute aloe vera gel with flaxseed gel. The only possible drawback is that your serum will have a thick consistency.

Preparation:

Follow these steps to make the magical hair growth serum. We will start by making a decoction.

STEP 1: For this, take a pan and add one cup of water. Add half a tablespoon of kalonji powder to the water. If you are using kalonji seeds, use one tablespoon.

Boil it till only 2-3 tablespoons of the decoction remains. Do not let it burn.

STEP 2: In a bowl, add one tablespoon of aloe vera gel.

STEP 3: Add one tablespoon of rosewater. Mix the two ingredients in the bowl!

STEP 4: Add ten drops of rosemary essential oil. Stir.

STEP 5: Now, it's time to add the decoction. Strain the decoction and add it to the bowl of other ingredients. Mix the ingredients well.

Your DIY thick hair growth serum is ready.

Note: If you use flaxseed gel instead of aloe vera gel, keep in mind that your serum will have a thicker consistency.

Application

Apply the serum when your hair is wet. Take the serum in your palm and gently massage it on your scalp.

Use a broad-toothed comb to untangle your hair and let your hair dry naturally. Do not use a hair dryer. Let it stay in your hair till the next wash.

You can oil your hair over the serum. Oil your hair two hours before washing your hair. If you have severe hair fall, switch to a mild or baby shampoo.

You have to apply the serum after every wash!

Storage:

Store the serum in a glass container. Storing in a glass container will increase the shelf-life of the serum.

But, if you do not have a glass container, you can keep it in any container of your choice.

You can store it without refrigeration for one week. It is best to refrigerate the serum to increase its shelf-life.

Who can use it?

This serum is for all age groups, but rosemary essential oil is not suitable for children.

If preparing the serum for a child, you cannot use rosemary essential oil.

Instead, add dried rosemary leaves to the decoction.

This serum is a mighty blessing for your hair. Using this serum regularly will help tackle hair thinning, bald patches, or less hair growth.

While doing this remedy, make sure to avoid hair treatments and harsh shampoos. Avoid junk food as much as you can. Do not massage too harshly or vigorously.

Get an ample amount of sleep and drink sufficient water. Do not stress too much! Managing a lifestyle can enhance the results of the serum.
