All the remedies are curated, keeping in mind your day-to-day schedule. It is not a tough challenge. You have to be consistent, determined, and optimistic. So let’s start.
Table of Contents:
DAY 1: FLAXSEED GEL
On the first day, you have to apply flaxseed gel. This gel is very easy to prepare and does wonders for the hair.
Ingredients:
1]. Flaxseeds:
-
Flaxseed gel nourishes and neutralizes the scalp.
-
If your hair has gone through chemical treatments, you are facing extreme hair fall, or your scalp is too acidic or too basic, flaxseed gel will help resolve these problems.
-
This colourless and odourless gel will prep your hair for the coming week. It will moisturize and hydrate the scalp.
-
Flaxseeds are tiny but very potent.
2]. Almond Oil And Olive Oil
-
They contain Omega-3 fatty acids that are important to keep the hair healthy. It prevents dryness and gives the hair a silky, smooth texture.
-
Flaxseeds are very effective in initiating hair growth.
-
Olive oil and almond oil are both great for this blend. Both these oils initiate hair growth and prevent dandruff, dryness, and itchiness.
-
In addition, almond oil can also protect hair from sun damage.
-
If you are uncomfortable with flaxseed gel, use rice water or aloe vera gel. Add the oil to either of the two.
-
And if you are uncomfortable with olive or almond oil, go for the one you like.
-
Apply this gel on the scalp and the lengths of the hair.

In prepared flaxseed gel add 1/2 tablespoon of almond oil and 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil. With the help of a blender, blend it and let it cool and then apply generously on both scalp and strand.
DAY 2: DIY HAIR SERUM
Now, you left the gel on your hair overnight. I am sure most of you are getting restless to know when you can wash it off. Well, you have to wait a little more.
On day two, apply a DIY hair serum over the gel.
Ingredients:
1]. Onions:
-
It consists of sambar onions (shallots) or red onions, garlic, and curry leaves.
-
For people who do not use onion or garlic or both, no need to worry. You can skip the ingredients you are not comfortable with.
-
Onion is a wonderful ingredient. It stops premature greying of hair, adds volume, and prevents hair breakage and fall.
-
Garlic fights dandruff-causing bacteria and stimulates blood circulation.
3]. Curry leaves:
-
Curry leaves are rich in vitamins C and B, protein, and antioxidants.
All these nutrients help in hair growth and the overall well-being of the scalp.
Preparation:
STEP 1: Wash all three ingredients and grind them well.
STEP 2: Strain the juice.
Your serum is ready for application.
Application:
You only have to apply it on your scalp. Take a cotton pad, dip it in the juice and apply it to the scalp. Make sure you’ve applied it on every follicle.
Now, tie your hair and leave it for 15-20 minutes. And then shampoo with your regular shampoo.
While shampooing, make sure you wash flaxseed gel and serum with water first and then shampoo with a dilute shampoo.
Then, spray rose water on your hair as some smell might come as we’ve applied onion and garlic.
This serum is so potent that it can stop hair fall in just application. But keep in mind that these results can turn out temporary.
So it is crucial to keep your body hydrated and eat healthily.
DAY 3: DIY HAIR SPRAY
For the third day, you will apply a DIY hair spray.
After the first two days of this challenge, I am sure you are starting to understand the intensity and potency of each remedy. So now it is time to enhance the beauty of your hair using this DIY hair spray.
Ingredients:
-
Nigella seeds are antioxidants.
-
They tend to keep the scalp moisturized and maintain its overall health.
-
These seeds have antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties.
2]. Aloe Vera Gel (preferably colourless):
-
Aloe vera gel is marvellous for hair growth.
-
It strengthens hair and keeps it shiny and non-greasy.
-
Aloe vera gel also protects the hair from sun damage.
-
Rose water is not just for the fragrance.
3]. Rose water:
-
Rose water can remove frizz and add sheen and shine to the hair.
-
It makes the hair softer while resolving issues like oily scalp and dandruff.
4]. Rosemary essential oil (optional):
-
Our optional ingredient, rosemary essential oil has beaten minoxidil in terms of hair loss and hair regrowth, and don’t even get me started on its fragrance.
-
Rosemary essential oil has anti-inflammatory properties, which help fight against dandruff and dry and itchy scalp.
Substitute:
You can substitute aloe vera gel with glycerine. But remember that adding glycerine can give a sticky texture to the hair. If rosemary essential oil is unavailable, you can use argon or olive oil.
Preparation:
This preparation is for one application. If you want to prepare for long increase the amount of ingredients.
STEP 1: Take a pan and boil one cup of water.
STEP 2: Add one tablespoon of nigella seeds and boil it till the water reduces to half. Now, turn off the flame and let it cool.
Application:
Detangle your hair and apply the spray on your scalp. You can also apply it on strands if you want.
DAY 4: DIY HAIR MASK
On the fourth day, pamper your hair with a beautiful hair mask.
The hair mask you will apply is 100% natural and prepared at home. It will help deeply nourish the scalp and boost the strength of your hair.
Ingredients:
There are only three components in this hair mask. The ingredients required are fenugreek seeds (methi), nigella seeds (kalonji), and rice. Simple ingredients, but mind-blowing benefits.
-
Fenugreek seeds are super effective for controlling hair fall and reviving damaged hair.
-
These tiny seeds prevent premature greying of hair and give them a shinier and softer texture.
-
It also prevents dandruff and scalp inflammation.
-
And as I discussed earlier, nigella seeds are simply a blessing for your hair
3]. Rice:
-
Rice or rice water strengthens hair follicles, prevents dandruff, increases the volume, repairs damaged hair, and makes the hair shinier!
Preparation:
STEP 1: In a pan take almost half a litre of water and turn the flame on.
STEP 2: Now, add 2 tablespoons of nigella seeds, 1-2 tablespoons of fenugreek seeds, and 2 big tablespoons of rice.
STEP 3: Now, let them boil on full flame till the rice gets cooked and the fenugreek seeds become soft.
STEP 4: Strain it and let it cool.
Now, choose whatever suits you. I’m personally very comfortable with henna. Here are my suggestions:
-
You can take Bhringraj powder or Amla powder if you have one. They are very neutral ingredients
-
If your scalp is oily you can tale multani mitti.
-
You can also use besan, but it’s a little difficult to remove from the scalp.
-
And, if you are comfortable with anything, then just make a paste of rice-fenugreek-nigella that we cooked.
STEP 5: Take 100 gm henna, and add the decoction to it. Make a paste and leave it for some time.
Application:
First, detangle your hair and then apply on your hair. Leave it for 2 hours (in the case of Multani mitti, leave it for 45 minutes).
And, wash it well.
DAY 5: DIY HAIR TONER
And here we are, at the last stage of our challenge.
We began the challenge with a bang, and now, we are ending it with a BAAANNNGG!
On the fifth and final day of the challenge, we are preparing a hair toner.
Ingredients:
This toner contains green tea, tea tree oil, aloe vera, and vitamin E.
1]. Green Tea:
-
Many people are unaware that green tea is a MIGHTY element for hair growth and regrowth.
-
Green tea contains ECGC, which prevents the scalp from getting damaged while promoting hair growth.
2]. Tea Tree Oil:
-
Tea-tree oil improves scalp health and promotes hair growth as well! It also fights against problems like head lice, dandruff, and flaky scalp.
3].Aloe Vera:
-
(discussed earlier)
4]. Vitamin E:
-
Vitamin E helps reduce oxidative stress by removing free radicals, which are responsible for damaging scalp health.
-
It works as an antioxidant and maintains hair growth.
Preparation:
STEP 1: Take a pan and add 1 cup of water. Add green tea bags (2-4). Now, let it cool.
STEP 2: In a bowl, take one spoonful of aloe vera gel and add the green tea decoction into it.
STEP 3: Now add tea tree oil to it. (Skip it if you don’t have it).
STEP 4: Add Vitamin E oil to it. If you don’t have it add almond oil or coconut oil.
STEP 5: Mix everything very well.
Application:
Apply this hair toner slowly with your fingertips. After proper application please tie your hair. It will be really good for your hair in the long run.
NOTE → Prepare a bigger batch of this toner and re-apply it the next morning.
With this, we come to the end of our challenge.
Considerations:
I am sure that by the end of the challenge, your hair will be happier, healthier, stronger, shinier, softer, and glossier. There are still a few things you have to keep in mind.
-
Maintain a healthy diet.
-
Social detox (reduce or avoid using social media)
-
Mental detox (clearing the mind)
By providing this external positivity, you will initiate a healthy environment for your hair to heal and repair all kinds of damage. So be patient, do not miss any day, and see the magic happen!
