How many of you have accepted dark circles and puffy and sunken eyes as a lifestyle? If yes, then it is time to change this mindset for GOOD.
Our eyes are very suggestive. They speak volumes. They tell about your lifestyle, emotions, and health and reflect your personality.
I would say that the eyes can tell you the most about a person without interacting! So why do we often neglect this beautiful feature that god crafted so delicately and patiently?
Why do we shake it off and call it a “lifestyle”? Even if it is a lifestyle, let’s face it, it is not a healthy one!
So now is the time to change a few things, make some efforts and say bye-bye to those dark circles, and puffy and sunken eyes.
In this article, we’ll learn what causes puffy eyes and how can we cure it with a simple eye cream. Let’s get into it.
Table of Contents:
But first, let’s understand the reasons behind these problems.
What are the reasons behind puffy eyes?
1]. Genetics
-
There are chances that dark circles and puffy or sunken eyes run in your genes.
-
It means that after a certain age, you will get these problems.
2]. Allergies
-
Allergies are also reflected sometimes around the eyes.
-
Sometimes we are unaware of what we are allergic to and keep doing our remedies.
-
Take a blood test to know what doesn’t suit you.
3]. Sun Exposure
-
Did you know that UV rays can mutate your DNA? Now imagine if these rays are powerful enough to do such a thing, then causing problems around the eyes is like a cakewalk.
-
So not applying SPF and skin exposure to the sun can lead to severe problems.
4]. Sleep Deprivation
-
Sleep deprivation is the most common cause of dark circles and puffy or sunken eyes.
-
Even in the movies tiredness is depicted with dark circles.
-
Aim for stress-free, ample sleep so you do not wake up tired.
5]. Eating Unhealthy Food
-
Uneven skin tones, rashes around the eyes, dark circles, and texture changes around the eyes are some of the results of eating unhealthy food (other than various others).
-
Aim for foods rich in vitamin A. Vitamin A is a blessing for eyesight and sensitive skin.
6]. Chronic Diseases
-
Long-term or chronic diseases can lead to these problems.
-
So work on getting healthy faster and take care of yourself!
7]. Ageing
-
Collagen level decreases as we age.
-
It leads to skin losing elasticity and muscles around the eyes getting weak.
-
It further leads to problems in retaining water around the eyes.
-
Increased water retention leads to puffy eyes, and reduced will lead to sunken eyes.
8]. Crying
-
Yes, too much crying can lead to puffy eyes and dark circles.
So what can you do to retrieve the beauty of your eyes? Do not worry, for I have a plan for you.
This plan consists of some remedial actions. These actions are so simple, cheap, easy to do, hassle-free, and 100% effective that you fall in love with them (and no, I am not exaggerating!).
So let’s get into it.
What Lifestyle Changes Needs To Be Made?
There are some minute changes that you have to bring into your life so that your eyes and your body remain healthy overall.
1]. Sleep:
The first and the most crucial point that I am sure you might have guessed already is getting enough sleep.
-
Whenever you do not get sufficient hours of sleep, it is reflected first in your eyes and then in your energy throughout the day.
-
Your body repairs itself, rejuvenates itself, and repairs the damage of the day. So prioritize your sleep.
-
If sleep does not come to you easily, or you want to improve the quality of your sleep, there are certain things you can do.
-
Firstly, you can light a lamp (diya) in your room, keep some indoor plants, and avoid using your gadgets (phones, laptops, televisions, etc.) at least half an hour before retiring for the day, listen to your favourite music, read a book before going to bed and keep the stress aside.
-
This simple action will help you get rid of tired eyes and keep your body fit!
2]. Pillow:
The next thing to remember is the angle of the pillow while you sleep.
-
If you understand the importance of keeping the right angle of the pillow, your puffy eyes will go away and never return.
-
Lymphatic fluid is present in your body, including the face. When this fluid gets collected around the eyes, it results in puffy eyes.
-
Keeping the pillow at the right angle will allow the fluid to drain and avoid its collection around the eyes.
-
So make sure your pillow is neither too thin nor too thick. You will find it uncomfortable in the beginning but trust me, you will thank yourself later for making this change.
So change your pillow today.
3]. Hydration:
-
Drinking plenty of water is a simple blessing you can give your skin.
-
Problems like uneven skin tone, dehydrated skin, and any issue around the eyes can go away by drinking lots and lots of water.
-
Sufficient consumption of water helps to eradicate toxins from the body.
-
Drinking water removes all the roots of problems.
4]. Splashing Chilled Water:
-
If you can arrange ice-cold/chilled water for yourself in the morning, believe me, then it is a game changer.
-
Splashing chilled water in the eyes rejuvenates and alerts them.
-
People who wear specs say that splashing cold water in the eyes helps in improving the eyesight as well.
-
You can also prepare a cold compress for yourself by keeping a steel spoon in the freezer overnight and pressing it on the eyes in the morning.
-
It serves the same purpose as cold water splashing.
These are some lifestyle changes and suggestions you can implement for your eyes. Next, we are going to prepare an eye cream.
How To Prepare Eye Cream?
Ingredients:
The ingredients required to prepare this eye cream are:
-
Water
-
Chamomile flowers (dried)
-
Aloe Vera Gel
-
Cucumber
There is no sebaceous or oil gland around the eyes, so these ingredients should not create any problems.
But if you are uncomfortable using aloe vera gel, you can substitute it with flaxseed gel. You can also use cucumber gel instead of raw cucumber.
Preparation:
Step 1:
Add 1 cup of water and one tablespoon of chamomile flowers to a pan. Chamomile flowers are easily available in the market.
You can drink chamomile tea before bed for a good night’s sleep. Bring it to a boil and let it heat till only 2-3 spoons of the final product remain.
Once done, strain and keep the decoction aside.
Step 2:
In a separate bowl, add one tablespoon of aloe vera gel. Now grate one cucumber and extract its juice (we don’t want granules in our cream!).
Add cucumber juice to aloe vera gel and mix both ingredients well.
Step 3:
Add chamomile decoction to your aloe vera gel and cucumber juice mix. Mix all the ingredients well, and your eye cream is ready!
You can store this cream in any container. But remember, you have to refrigerate this cream, do not keep it out in the open.
Application:
You can apply this magic eye cream whenever you are comfortable. I put this eye cream on before applying sunscreen; it is so soothing (it is part of my skincare!).
You can put it around your eyes before bed and leave it overnight. You will feel the stiffness around your eyes, and the cream will keep working its wonders!
It is a versatile eye cream you can use in the morning, at night, or whenever you want.
Use your ring fingers for application. Do not apply too much pressure; gently massage the cream around the eyes.
You can put it on your eyelids if using it before bed because your eyelids will feel heavier (but you will get a good night’s sleep for sure!).
Keep This In Mind
Now let me clarify one thing if you are consuming alcohol or smoking while doing the remedy, you are wasting your time and resources.
It is not going to work for you. Any PreityPrerna remedy will not work for you! So please stay away from these toxifications and love your body so that it can love you back.
If your body is producing too much fluid, increase potassium intake. Potassium is present in bananas, beans, leafy vegetables, yoghurt, etc.
You can also consult your doctor and take supplements. You can also reduce salt intake to decrease fluid retention. It will help in getting rid of puffy and sunken eyes.
