There are so many things attached to “self-care” that sometimes we do not know where to begin. Sometimes we are clueless about how it works.
Self-care is not something you need to wait for a weekend or take a day off. It can be a part of your daily life.
The tips I am sharing with you today are from my self-care routine. These few lifestyle changes have helped me tremendously, and now I hope these help you too.
1]. Positive Thinking
One of the biggest mistakes is starting your day with a negative mindset. Always think and manifest positivity.
I know many people might find it hard to think happy thoughts because of various life problems, work problems, or problems at home.
It’s okay!
Wake up with a fresh mind and tell yourself that today will be terrific. By manifesting positivity in your life, you will only attract positivity.
2]. Morning Drink
A warm cup of morning drink – can be green tea, turmeric water, cumin water, or just a plain warm glass of water, whatever you like.
A warm cup of water will not only help in keeping your gut clean, but it will also ensure healthy hair and skin.
If you are not a morning person and think that waking up every day and boiling the water is tedious, you can keep warm water in a thermos by your bed before sleeping.
Wake up and have your morning drink!
3]. Balanced and Healthy Diet
This one can be tricky for many people, but believe me, once you start checking your eating habits, every aspect of your life will improve.
You can opt for once-a-week fasting as it helps in giving rest to our gut. When I say “healthy diet,” I mean thoughtful eating; avoiding fast food and other unhealthy foods
(once a month or every 15 days is acceptable!).
And if you are confused about what a balanced diet consists of, then let me tell you, a balanced diet can be your home-cooked meals.
Believe me, this change will not only help you to remain fit, but it will also help your skin to glow.
4]. Not Surrendering To Your Fears
Who doesn’t have any fears? Everyone is afraid of something or the other (even our superheroes!). So what should we do about these fears?
Should we sit in a corner and never face them? NO! Leap! Just go for it! Do not be afraid of taking risks. Failures are a part of life; they are lessons.
Never take them as a sign to surrender, but see them as an encouragement to keep moving forward.
5]. Act Like Your Idol
Your idol is your IDOL for a reason. There are qualities in them that you wish you had. So why not just have them? All you need to do is start acting like them.
You can practice in front of a mirror first. Soon you will realize that you are so much like them (or even better!). It will also help you in gaining confidence.
So no more being shy, it’s time to shine!
6]. Read and Listen
This one is my personal favourite. Books play a crucial role in our lives. In school, college, and post-graduation, we stay connected with our education, but what after all that?
We stop educating ourselves; whatever information we get is from the news channels. So it is time to make books your best friend. Reading is the best utilization of time.
It helps in enhancing the imagination and will continue to educate you. Pick up any book of your choice first, and then keep moving forward. Make reading a habit!
7]. Maintain a Journal
Maintaining a journal is not always a “dear diary.”
Maintaining a journal can also be about making a to-do list for yourself. It does not only increase productivity, but it also helps in feeling more organized.
Making a to-do list or scheduling a day is not a task. Just take a diary and a pen and organize your day in the morning. You can do this while having your morning drink.
At the end of the day, tick all the tasks you completed. No one can take away that feeling of contentment from you!
Yes, there might come some days on which you are unable to complete all the tasks, but it’s okay! Just write “nothing done” and see how your productivity will double the next day.
8]. Look Good and Smell Good
Remember that you are not dressing up or looking good for others but yourself! Looking good for yourself helps in building up confidence.
Even if you are lounging at home, just put some effort into yourself, wear matching clothes, perfume, or whatever you like! Just do it to make yourself feel good.
9]. Exercise
Exercising is the most important part of self-care. I try to exercise daily, but when I am unable to exercise, I feel lethargic.
The entire day feels low. Exercising gives a gush of blood in the body which will help you to feel energized the whole day.
You do not have to join a gym or plan a workout regime for this. Just take 15-10 minutes daily and do whatever exercise you know. It can be yoga or the PT exercises we learned in our school days.
Just try doing this for a month, and you will see the difference.
10]. Stay Connected with Friends and Family
I hope I do not need to explain the importance of one’s family in one’s life. Staying connected with your loved ones, meeting them whenever you get time, and even a simple text can make a difference.
Sure, families fight sometimes, but we should never forget that these are the only people in the world who genuinely care and want the best for us.
So keep them close! I am sure that talking with your friends and family will bring joy to your soul, and that is all that matters.
